Web page v Restaurant menu?

Postby Mac » Thu Jan 21, 2010 3:34 pm

Extremely useful article in todays Guardian newspaper:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/ ... ting-ploys

Worth a read for anyone who has a menu, I've posted this in here though as I think many of the same principles apply to your web page(s)

Any thoughts?

Interesting reading that Mac. I guess we are all a bit gullible when we look at a menu. Lots of tips and hints.

I was very surprised at the extent of psychological tricks used in a menu!

Like supermarkets with their layout, web sites with their layout, adverts on tele, adverts in magazines etc. etc. , the general public don't stand a chance!

A lot of that makes sense Mac and I must have been guided to buy more expensive things in the past as well.

I would say they only apply to web pages if your web page is a restaurant menu or something thing selling food?

For a start on website the eye is drawn to the top left hand side not the right.

Visitor behaviour is a subject I'm particularly interested in and getting asked more and more to comment on people's websites on that basis.
