I am considering getting a vac packer and wanted to know if anyone has experience with using it on pre-cooked food? I have used one before but only for raw fish and meats.

I have used several types of "chamber" vac packers in this way before. It all depends on the type of food you are packing. The biggest problem is when the motor sucks the air out the machine will squash the produce inside- you can turn the vac down manually on most, but this leaves air inside. Things like ham and cheese are normally okay. Woulnn't want to try it on cakes or bread as it flattens the stuff and leanes you with a brick in a bag!
Do you know anyone who services the big chamber vac packers in and around the Oxford area?

Of course you can get the benefits of vacuum packing by packing pre-cooked food. It is advisable not to pack warm food as the steam could damage the pump.
