Employee Insurance

Postby Advantage » Thu Feb 19, 2009 12:14 pm

Just received a renewal for employers/employee liability insurance and as with any kind of insurance there is no point in not answering all their questions accurately as it can invalidate any claims.
Because the business is growing so is turnover - this has directly affected the premium hugely even though the staff number and work they do has not changed!
Any recommendations for an insurer who plays fair?

Most insurance companies base their results on turnover not work content or number of employees, if yours is artificially high shop around, a company we have used works like this so his income has been really hit by the turndown in business, for this reason he has moved to other insurance companies that give a better return so be prepared to haggle and shop around. also ask about the fees they are going to get.

Tell me about it, my insurance company charged more when the turn over went up and not when it went down. Lets face it, they want as money as possible for the least risk and don't want to pay out if they can avoid doing so.

A chef I knew had a claim against him and the insurance company refused to pay out when he had part time staff on the books he had not declared. The problem was the issue related to a full time member of staff, which adhered to their terms & conditions.

They are all robbers but we can't afford to take the risk of not being insured. :chef:
